Blogging the “Breeze”

Very often I find myself calling friends and acquaintances just to say hi or shoot the breeze.  Today, I am going to try something new.  Sort of like a newsletter that you get at the holidays, but not as cliche’.  I am going to blog my “breeze”.

Here’s what’s new and exciting.  Summer is here and I need to keep my child who is on summer vacation busy, while still working and growing other entrepreneurial endeavors, and sticking to my summer budget.  It’s not as easy as it sounds.

So, we chose several activities for Olivia, some we are teaching her, and others she is enrolled in.

Being a music educator, I get to save money on music lessons.  Fortunately, I don’t adhere to the adage that you can’t teach your own child a musical instrument.  I found an inexpensive yet perfect 1/4 scale violin.  So, I am teaching Olivia violin and she loves it.  I am so proud of her and it is a lot of fun for the two of us.  Great bonding time.

She also loves to design clothes.  Mostly with hot glue and tape.  So, her grandma who watches her a few days a week when I work, also knows how to sew.  So, she is teaching Olivia the art of the needle and thread.  How cool will it be when Olivia looks back in a few years at the time she spent with her grandmother sewing her own clothes.

Being really HOT in S. FL in the summer, Olivia chose ice skating as her other activity.  Thank you, thank you…  She had her first class last Saturday.  She loved it, and as a bonus, she was really good at it.  She went back Monday to practice.

In between activities and work there are the best activities S. Florida offers- the pool and the beach.  Add in the bar-b-que and some frosty drinks with umbrellas or home made lemonade and you have the perfect summer…on a budget.

Winter clothes...and it's 95 degrees outside!
