The ISafe Bag, Mobile Personal Security

For anybody who knows me, I tend to be the person who always plays the devil’s advocate.  I tell it like it is, and look for potential pitfalls as well as the optimistic bright side.  In saying this, I want to tell you about this really cool bag called the ISafe bag.  It is a bag that has a ripcord activated personal security alarm and strobe built right in.  Genius!

There are bags available for school aged children; backpacks and messenger bags, as well as bags for adults like computer bags.  I got my ISafe bag, a sling backback, in NYC chic black.  I wish I had it when I was back in college, running around Greenwich Village at midnight.

The bag is very roomy and the material it is made out of is thick and durable.  This is no disposable bag, but one that will last for years to come.  The strap is adjustable and very comfortable, even when the bag is weighed down with heavy items such as books and a laptop.  There are compartments for everything from you cell phone or mp3 player to large text  books.  The pockets are easy to get to, especially the shoulder strap compartment, where I keep my phone.

I have to say, the makers of the ISafe bag thought of everything.   The ripcord which activates the alarm is covered by part of the strap and easily accessible by lifting the velcro closed flap.  Like I said, they thought of everything because the ripcord is covered, so little kids won’t be inclined just to pull it…because they don’t see it.  Genius!

Of course, I had to test the alarm.  It was really easy to access and pull the rip cord.  The pitch of the alarm is high and doesn’t sound like a car alarm.  It really makes you pay attention.  It’s also really loud, so people will definitely take notice.  The strobe is also bright and attention getting.  Just as important as pulling the rip cord, it was really easy to put it back and de-activate the alarm.

I have to say, the ISafe bag passed the official test with me.  I was walking my dog last night…I know, woman alone, walking…at night.  Anyway, I was wishing I had a small ISafe bag that could hold my keys and “doggie bags”.  I would have felt so much safer.

I just took my ISafe bag on vacation with my family.  It was the perfect backpack to take along on our trip.  If was comfortable and roomy.  Another application for the siren is if you get separated from your family, you can pull the rip cord and believe me, they will find you.  The bag is so versatile too.  I am 5 feet tall-yes Mom, I said 5 feet, and my husband is 6′ 1″.  The bag is very adjustable, and “manly” enough that he didn’t mind wearing the sling bag when it was his turn.

the ISafe bag and Spongebob; a great combination.

I would recommend the ISafe bag for kids and adults alike.  It’s a great idea for personal security, back to school safety, as well as a beacon for your family if you get separated in an amusement park.  Like I said, GENIUS!!!
