Today, Live Like a Kid

My day started off pretty lousy.  Once I got all annoyed, walked around grumpy and pretty much got it out of my system, I looked at my daughter who didn’t share in my morning stress.

I think as adults we stress over things that given enough time, tend to work themselves out.  Kids, focus on the here and now, not worrying too much about the “what if’s”.  They don’t put the same demands on themselves.

Today, I am choosing to live like a kid.

  • Kid’s live in the moment always striving to make everything fun. They do things just for the sake of doing it. They also don’t always weigh all the options or consider the what if’s. Remember those days?
  • Kids sleep better because they don’t stay up nights worrying.  Today, I choose to be at peace with my life because, really, everything seems to work out in the end.  So tonight, I will sleep.
  • Kids do stuff just for fun. When was the last time you did something just for fun?  Over the weekend we went to the mall.  Honestly, school shopping, not fun.  However, the water tanks with inflatable balls that kids go in-like a hamster in a ball, floating on the water…FUN!!! This was the greatest thing I’ve seen in a long time.  Did we wait on line…for a bit.  Was it worth the laughs and smiles?  Absolutely.
  • Kids turn the most mundane activity into an adventure. They play with their food, imagining they are giants eating miniature broccoli trees.  Showers and baths aren’t for getting clean or relaxing, they are play time.  The fringe benefit of this play time is getting clean, but from their perspective, it’s water play time.

It’s Tuesday, and that’s how I am choosing to live today-like a kid.
